Leading with Heart for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Our founder Chrissy has always said it simply: lead with heart. It is the thread that runs through everything we do at Flo & Frankie, from the way we treat each other to the causes we stand behind.

This October, we took that philosophy out of the office and onto the streets of Auckland.

On Sunday 11 October, a big group from our Support Office Flo Fam laced up their sneakers, pulled on their pinkest outfits, and walked 10 kilometres through Central Auckland as part of the Pink Ribbon Walk, raising funds for Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.

Key Takeaways

- The Flo & Frankie Support Office team completed the 10km Pink Ribbon Walk at Auckland Domain on 11 October 2026.
- Around 4,000 participants joined the event, raising vital funds for Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
- Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in New Zealand, with 10 women diagnosed every single day.
- You can help: donate to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ or learn how to self-check today. Early detection is key.

Why This Month Matters

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in New Zealand.

According to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, 10 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every single day in Aotearoa. The encouraging truth is that when breast cancer is caught early, outcomes are significantly better, which is exactly why awareness, self-checking, and community fundraising matter so much.

1 in 10 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives.

Those are not abstract numbers. They are our mothers, our sisters, our friends, our colleagues. They are women in our community, in our team, in the Flo & Frankie whānau.

That is why October matters. And that is why we walked.

The Flo Fam Goes Pink

We went all out. Head to toe in pink, with accessories to match. (The furry friends we met along the way were equally committed to the dress code.)

Around 4,000 participants gathered at Auckland Domain for the 5km and 10km walks, and our Support Office team was right in that sea of pink, completing the full 10km course with event entry tickets going directly towards raising funds for Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.

The route wound through the Domain and finished with one last challenge: the Parnell Rise hill. We braved it together, and crossed the finish line with smiles all round.

It was the kind of afternoon that reminds you what community actually feels like. Thousands of people, all there for the same reason. All carrying the same hope.

A big thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and cheered us on. It was a fun afternoon spent together for a cause close to so many of our hearts.

How You Can Help

The walk is done, but the cause does not stop in October. There are two simple things you can do right now that genuinely make a difference.

Donate to Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand

Every dollar donated to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ funds life-saving research, patient support, and education programmes across Aotearoa. Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is the country's specialist breast cancer organisation, and their work is what makes earlier detection, better treatment, and stronger outcomes possible for New Zealand women and their whānau.

Learn How to Self-Check

Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand encourages regular self-checking so you can notice any changes early and talk to your GP if something does not feel right.

Here is what to look and feel for:

- Lumps or thickening anywhere in the breast or armpit
- Changes in size or shape of either breast
- Skin changes such as dimpling, puckering, or redness
- Nipple changes including inversion, discharge, or crusting
- Persistent pain in one area of the breast or armpit

If anything feels different or new, see your GP. Do not wait and see. Early detection is everything.
