Meet the Maker of Home Lab

Our newest brand to welcome to our family is Home Lab!

We asked Annelies from Home Lab to talk about all things business and inspiration...

What are some things you need to have around you to feel inspired and happy at work?

Well for the past 6 months or more I have been working from our dining room table at home so a clean and tidy house helps me to focus and get inspired!! To much clutter around me and I can’t think! I always have a candle going at the moment, I cant seem to have enough candles the house as I burn through them so often. I also often have my favourite playlist playing in the background to help keep me motivated

How would you describe your brand in 3 words?

Inspired, Timeless, Accessible.

Is there one item or perhaps a collection in particular that is your all-time favourite?

I am in love with our Tibetan Furs at the moment, my house is covered in them! The fawn colour especially is my new favourite piece in my bedroom and the seat warmers are seriously the best, especially this time of year!

You're a young creative, what makes a home feel homely to you? What do you think makes a beautiful home space? Do you have your eye on anything?

I think a home is all about the people who live in it, our house never feels the same when the kids are not in it! A home is also about experimenting, changing your rooms around and experimenting with layout, texture and colour is so much fun and I can’t seem to ever leave the house they same for more than a few weeks!

Layering your home with texture through throws and cushions or adding some fresh or dried floral is always a great way to make your home feel more homely. But I often need to remind myself that less is more and there is something calming about removing the clutter and keeping it simple.

I am always on the look out for new exciting pieces for my home and I’m eyeing up a boucle chair we have coming in our first furniture shipment next month for our guest bedroom.

As a creative that’s often working from home it can be easy to get sucked into a little bubble. Where are your favourite places in your area to go when you need a break or are hoping to get some inspiration?

Well I am a sucker for a good coffee so I often find myself down at Fabric Café on the water at Hobsonville Point where they do the best! Part of my daily routine also is exercise, and I try and get outside to do this as much as possible and go for a run or walk and this is when I do all my thinking and planning for the week and days ahead! I often come up with my best ideas whilst out walking.

What do you do to switch off?

I love cooking and this is when I try and switch off at the end of the day. Once the kids are in bed and I can relax whilst cooking us a meal, its my time to try and not think too much about work or kids!
