Girl bosses behind our fav ethical edit gift brands

In light of International Women's Day on the 8th of March, we're celebrating some of the incredible women behind some of our favourite brands, and how they are inspiring us through their work in the fashion industry, prioritising ethical and sustainable manufacturing. These women are championing the industry, to strive for better standards - looking after the makers and mother nature.

INSPIRING US TO GIVE BACK:

Nadia & Elka, of La Luna

"We started in October 2018! Selling soaps from instagram and donating a portion of each sale we made to our "Passion Project Fund" Which we then donated to a range of charities around NZ such as TWR, The Auckland City Mission and treats for those living tough over Christmas. Inspired by all the amazing kindness being poured out by fellow Kiwis, we wanted to pay it forward with our own Charity! Being a trained Primary School teacher myself, I saw first hand some of the harsh realities our children were facing... and wanted to see a change. And so, the La Luna Project began!" - Nadia, founder

INSPIRING US TO LIVE NATURALLY:

Carly of Fair  & Square Soapery

"The traditional technique of cold process soap making is both a science and an art and I love the challenge that this brings to every small batch I make. I am passionate about creating a product with natural ingredients because nature has such an abundance of stunning products to offer. And of course by refraining from the chemicals and synthetic fragrances you can be sure that it is good for your body and the environment." - Carly, founder

We like to make our own stuff and know where it comes from. We shop local and are proud to be supporting small businesses in the Bay." - Sarah, founder

INSPIRING US TO WASTE FREE:

"Living in the city and seeing the huge amounts of plastic waste produced every day can be overwhelming, but I strongly believe that by making small positive changes we can significantly reduce our impact on our extraordinary planet.  At Earthware our purpose is to eliminate single use plastic by creating reusable products that not only make a difference but are stylish and look good too!" - Livvy, founder

INSPIRING US TO LOOK AFTER OUR ENVIRONMENT:

Sophie, of Little Difference

"After having so much fun in nature we appreciate the worlds natural beauty and all the amazing experiences it provides us, so we are doing our very best to run this business in the most Earth caring way possible. This is why we have started our 1 Card. 1 Tree initiative where we pay for the planting, raising and protection of one tree towards reforestation for every single product sold! We also only use 100% recycled paper products and 100% biodegradable packaging." - Sophie, founder
