Flo girls take India (part 1)

Inspired by Ruby (the eldest Flo sister), who's been volunteering with My Choices foundation in India for the past 3 months, the rest of us decided to join her for a 2-week adventure!

While exploring historical sites, every corner we turned to had the most incredible detail and finishing, it's crazy to think these structures built so long ago are still so beautiful to this day!

Our biggest recommendation would be to take a decent camera with you because there are so many moments you'll want to capture the essence of this special place, to remember it forever. That's in contrast to India's dirty streets where you spend a lot of your time dodging herds of cows and their poo and crazy tuk-tuks all over the show. There's something quite crazy about the juxtaposition of it all.

The Taj Mahal at Sunrise.. without a doubt a bucket list pinch-me moment. From 200 metres away to 2 inches away, the detail is mesmerizing from every angle as is the love story behind this work of art. Yes, it can be touristy, but there is a good reason for that. Get here before the sun rises to catch a few quiet moments stare and marvel.

The gorgeous Pichola Lake in Udaipur has a few islands dotted around in the middle, so it's worth taking a little boat from the City Palace for an hour excursion. We found ourselves wandering a charming little hotel garden and getting a little break away from the city was just what we needed.

Udaipur is speckled with gorgeous waterfront and rooftop restaurants and bars. Everything is so affordable so you really can splash out on a gin and tonic or two, just to soak up the stunning views. A few of our favourites where BaroMasiMillets of MeywarRestaurant AmbraiUpre, and Restaurant Harigarh (pictured below).

The Amber Fort was another amazing visit, with incredible detail. The best part about it was that at the end, there is a gorgeous cafe with drinks! It was scorching when we were there, and we found mum with a cucumber drink in hand (not surprised at all).

If there's one thing you do in India, it's got to be a cooking class! They are absolute legends with their flavours. What surprised us most about the Indian food is how much more variety there is than we thought (not just Currys for breakfast lunch and dinner). We had Sunny from Millets of Meywar in Udaipur take us through a half-day vegan cooking class, where we learnt how to make a curry (gravy) sauce, eggplant curry, aloo Tikki patties, malai koftas with curry sauce, spiced sprout salad, and vege kabab bites. We all agreed that the malai koftas with curry sauce was one of our favourite meals....ever.
