Flo's easy eco swaps for a greener kitchen & laundry

When thinking about where you can reduce your footprint on the earth, areas of your life that can be of great change is in the kitchen and laundry! It doesn't have to be complicated, it's actually more about striping back to the basics. Whilst some items are more expensive at the outset than buying cheap single use items for your kitchen and laundry, you'll end up saying money from buying less, and having items that can be reused over and over.

Here a just a few swaps that can be made if you're looking for ideas...

Get refill soap so you don't have to buy as much plastic pump bottles. Our fave is the natural refill from NZ made Santosa.

Use dish soap rather than dish washing liquid, it lasts longer and saves water all at the same time. One of our favourite Flo brands Fair & Square makes an awesome one.

Instead of buying lots of dishcloths, use reusable ones. These dishcloths replace 15 rolls of paper towels, saving you money and creating nil harm. They soften in contact with water and can absorb 15 x it’s weight. They also dry fast so they don’t breed bacteria or smell, it's a win win!

Get inspired and learn from others. There's plenty of books that will inspire you to live a life of less waste. Our go-to at the moment is 'Sustainable Home' by eco expert Chrstine Liu.

Swap to natural clothes washing powder! Unlike conventional detergents which can be harmful for your skin and the planet, all natural laundry powder leaves your clothes and linens fresh, clean and chemical-free. Good for you and good for the planet.

As well as this, there's always other ways that we can make our kitchens and laundry more sustainable, these a just a couple of easy ones to start you off. Don't stress about getting it all right at the first, any progress towards a more eco friendly life is better than no progress. Be kind to yourself and the planet friends!
